Wandering in Bosnia-Herzegovina

2013 - Present

For over 10 years, we have evolved from a partnership between the Mediterranean Film Festival and the U.S. State Department alongside MFF School, our flagship film workshop activation in Široki Brijeg, Bosnia-Herzegovina.

Our goal: Over the course of 10 days, students pitch, write, produce, and edit narrative and documentary films that are premiered for their families and wider community.

Our hope is that students and educators alike walk out the door better than they came in. Wandering in Bosnia-Herzegovina has challenged our collective to meet the growing needs of students and mentors, to embrace ever-evolving camera and production technology, and to push the limits of cinematic storytelling. It has taught us all to take risks on both sides of the camera and to trust in the beauty of the creative process.

Through the creative experience that we call filmmaking, we have not only uncovered narratives from the past, but more importantly we have been able to tell narratives that speak to a better future. In creating and collaborating with each other, we can continue to re-imagine, re-shape, and re-work our world into a better place.

When we take a look through the lens together, we can see the world not as it is, but rather what we envision it to be.

Wandering to New Places

What’s next?

As we look to the future, we are exploring news paths to wander. Our collective is actively in conversation with our communities, ready to partner and bring the next story to the screen.
